In this interactive workshop, you will acquire tools and intervention
strategies that you can use daily. Although many students with Asperger
Syndrome see only in black and white, through immersion in the topic
you
will learn techniques that can be used successfully with a wide range
of the
students in your classroom. Look forward to many "ah hah" moments as
you
learn from interaction, presentation, and design.
Outcomes: By the end of 3 hours, success will look, sound, and feel
like:
* A better understanding of Asperger Syndrome and its characteristics.
* A better understanding of structural intervention strategies.
* Better tools to recognize and respond to varied characteristics of
students with
Asperger Syndrome
* New energy by working with peers in a brain compatible environment
Presenter Presenter: Therese Bernier Burns consults statewide in a
number of
areas including positive behavioral support and differentiated
instruction.
Her professional background includes 25 years of meeting the needs of
all
learners in the regular classroom. She is currently the President of
the
Maine Chapter of CEC and the Assistant Director of the
Maine Support
Network.
Workshop fee of $45.00 includes healthy and hearty snacks.
3 Clock Hours will be awarded.

The Law of the One
Most people can remember
the one or two teachers who believed in and took a special
interest in them. For many of us, these special teachers made a
tremendous difference in our lives. Might you be "the one"
this year?
